Handyman of Australia

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

We believe life is too short to work a job you don’t enjoy, not getting paid what you deserve or not getting the credit for a job well done. We believe in not being stuck inside an office all day rather being able to be outside breathing in fresh air and feeling the sun on your skin, meeting new people everyday and being welcomed into their homes and creating positive change.

We believe in helping people become business owners so they can achieve having their own successful business, earning fantastic money and enjoying financial freedom whilst working flexible hours that suits you and taking days off whenever you want to.

We believe starting up a new Business by yourself with no experience is not only very difficult, extremely time consuming and for little to no reward initially, but based on the facts and figures, it’s almost guaranteed to fail in the first 5 years. Yes, starting a business from scratch is that difficult – you must be prepared to take a financial hit for up to 12-18 months depending on your outlay and overheads.

As a skilled tradesperson in your own business, you’ll have the satisfaction of making your own decisions, working shorter hours and seeing more money in the bank.

3 Core Values

Tim wanted to create an ethical business that he was proud of and so underpinned his work with these three promises:

These 3 core pillars resonated with clients and soon Handyman of Melbourne was expanding. He extended the areas he serviced, expanded his skills and services and soon had more work than they could manage. He then took on more staff and eventually realised Franchising the Business was the best option to have Franchisees covering as much of his beloved city as possible without the travel of his employees.

Handyman of Melbourne was established in 2013 by the owner Tim Wallace.

Tim has 20 years-experience as a qualified cabinet maker, creating and installing kitchens and custom cabinetry.

However, after a decade of cabinetry making, he decided he needed a change.

He wanted to create a better life for himself. He wanted a life where he had more work/life balance. A life with more financial security and more variation in the work.

Variety the Spice of Life

One of the features that attracted Tim to the Handyman industry was variety. Tim wanted to be able to work across a large range of trades from small jobs to larger jobs from commercial clients to residential clients. He wanted to have a business model that comprised of a mix of repeat work as well as some one-off jobs.

While he still loved Cabinet Making he also wanted to branch out and offer services such as installing timber doors and locks or building timber decks. He also liked plastering and painting and landscaping gardening.

He enjoyed repairs and property maintenance and also hanging artwork and mirrors.

This meant his days were interesting and varied and never dull.
